Lipids Fatty acids and Glycerol are the monomers for lipids Lipids are composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms, and in some cases contain phosphorus, nitrogen sulfur, and other elements. Types of lipids: Triglycerides They are the main form of lipids in plants and animals Example: Avocado, oil, meat, nuts, butter, and etc.. Phospholipids Example: Cell membrane is a phospholipid bilayer Waxes Example: Beeswax, earwax, and cuticle of leaf Steroids Example: Cholesterol, Hormones, And Vitamins Lipids are important in the diet because they are energy sources and as sources of fatty acids.
